SRX8648709: Amplification of Enteroviruses from clinical samples
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina MiSeq) run: 146,297 spots, 38.6M bases, 18.6Mb downloads

Design: PanEV-RT-PCR
Submitted by: NIBSC
Study: Direct detection and typing of human enteroviruses from clinical samples by whole-capsid next generation sequencing
show Abstracthide Abstract
Effective EV detection and typing is essential for clinical management, surveillance and outbreak preparedness. With the advent of NGS technology, it is of paramount importance to evaluate its suitability for detection and typing of clinically important viruses. The present study provide evidence that the mECRA followed by NGS analysis gave consistent result compared with WHO proposed EV VP1 surveillance assay. Moreover, NGS method picked additional viruses and co-infections. It is highly likely that deep sequencing methods in near future are going to be used for EV typing and this study is a proof of concept for the same.
